Vocab: Symbol

Definition:  A thing that represents or stands for something else.

Example: America is a symbol of freedom

Significant: Symbol make the reader to make a visual and make the poems entertaining.

Vocab: Elegy

Definition: Poems that wrote about someone who past away

Example:



 On September the nineteenth 1586 in London Tower
When the bloom of his young life was decaying like a flower
Dying in the cool winds of the early Fall
In words his tragic life he did recall.



Significant: Elegy show an express sadness and resprect for the lost one.

Vocab: Couplet

Definition: Two lines of verse, usually in the same meter and joined by rhyme, forming a unit.

Examples:

   Martin Luther King was not a king.
He did not have horses, a crown, or anything.
He preached a lot and had a dream
Of everybody eating ice cream.

Significant: Couplet make the poems interesting and easy to read. Also fun as well.

Vocab: Rhyme

Definition: The last syllable which have the same sounds

Example: A bat wearing a basketball cap.

Significant: Ryhme create a song or a music to the poems. Ryhme makes the poems to be entertaining and enjoyable to read.

Vocab: Rhythm

Definition: The rise and fall when you read something to make it outstanding.

Example: Do re mi fa son la si do re mi fa son la si do.

Significant: Ryhthm have an expression and that expression help the poems to be interesting

Vocab: Speaker

Definition: Speaker is when the  poem’s narrator personal expression and feeling are revealed.
Example: I can't find an example on google... Sorry Mr.Patrick
Significant: Speakers help the reader to have an emotions or a feelings of the poets. And that will make the reader have a stronger perspective of the poems.

Vocab: Personification

Definition: adding a human actions to a nonhuman.

Examples:
The teapot sang as the water boiled
The ice cubes cackled in their glass
the teacups chattered to one another.
While the chairs were passing gas
The gravy gurgled merrily
As the oil danced in a pan.
Oh my dinnertime chorus
What a lovely, lovely clan!


Significance: personification helps the reader to visual object as a human.
